since the release of his first album in 2013, lucas arruda has quickly established himself as one of the most talented young artist and composer from brazil. his music is filled with fusion style, mixing influences and elements from his latin musical background, with his genuine admiration for jazz, soul and funk music.

after a huge success with the first release by dj aaekmael, we signed another crazy good release. the man who is everywhere at the moment luvless. with releases on tsuba, sleazy beats, rose records, razer n tape, diggin disco deep and much more, this guy can t be stopped. sometimes slow mo deep house, with a fantastic vocal, and a piano that will make your heart melt. on the flip side, we asked the productive desos to make a remix, and he did that very well, he added a little more basement vibe to it, just ready for the clubs. vinyl only release.

can we melt the ice is one of those mystery records that collectors love so dearly. very little is known about it, other than that it appeared on plush records sometime around 1982 or 83. it was written and produced by chicago producer morris j williams, whose sweet vocal provides a vocal point for the track s sensual boogie vibes - all lilting horns, subtle synthesizers and shuffling grooves. brilliantly, this reissue from finlands constantly on-point traveller records also boasts a previously unreleased longer version, which naturally extends the tracks wonderful instrumentation in all the right places. recommended.

lokee musiks sophomore release features newcomer afriqua. a 21 year old from virginia, usa and currently based in berlin. this fledgling producer and student of the royal academy of music sparked interest with lokee when they met at one of their famous after hours in london. the title track here is melt & features broken groove with afriquas minimal perspective. electric pulse stabs are at the heart of this rhythm and drive it with a much appreciated space. vocals from sorcha richardson adds an eerie anthemic touch reminiscent of somewhere between the cocteau twins & fever ray

when talking about the music of com truise (one of the many pseudonyms of new jersey designer/musician seth haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so lets get that out of the way. yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. but they’re also remarkably weird--stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. after his well-received cyanide sisters ep, a grip of remixes for artists like twin shadow, neon indian, and, uh, daft punk, and a few floating mp3s, truises first lp, galactic melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer.
